Matthew Slaats

Freespace is collecting spaces that have meaning to you. May it be the site of a first kiss, an odd meeting of spaces that you think is interesting, or a rethinking of a space that is familiar to all. We are interested in the everyday space, the space that once was, and space that is constantly in between. The objective being to develop a network of sites, an alternative park system, to elucidate experiences of ownership, privacy, sustainability, and identity. So, how does this work? First, think of a place. Second, document that place by taking a photo. Third, write a few short sentences about that place. (Between 3 and 6 or however many you want) Fourth, get an address or find some coordinates. (Google maps works good for this). Once this is all collected, send this information to Freespace. You can meet us on the corner of 4th St and University Place to go in search of a site, come with the information so we can upload it to the site or submit it via our website.
