36 Code:Drift
Using QR Codes(magnets) I will add layers of information to specific geolocations w/in the designated 5-block radius. Participants can use their smart mobile devices to decode each tag to access additional information associated with their location. In some instances this will be a simple text note which will prompt the traveler in someway or ask them a rhetorical question or propose some sort of “pedestrian speech act” in that specific location. The tag can also provide access to full texts, sound recordings, videos, as well as place a phone call or send an SMS. While the link between content and location will be loose, that is to say more poetic than historical, the overall theme of the content for each tag will address, however obliquely, themes and concepts central to psychogeographic exploration. Code:Drift is as much an augmented experience of the urban landscape as it is a liminal library, an archive of digital content accessible in the spaces they examine, critique & embrace.
