Believing in no boundaries. Itineraries of flux and drift are charted in re-use of materials, notes scrawled on the sleeve of a jacket. 24 folks, 24 paper jackets, 7 hours of experience.
Under Construction 24/7 - Post-industrial Folk Wear
A diverse lot of 24 individual volunteers will each, for a duration of 7 hours, wear a jacket made of durable white paper: a blank sheet upon which the experience of 7 hours will be imprinted. This material is taken from industry, not the loom and appropriated as post industrial folk wear. While jackets are protective outerwear, these jackets will become testimonies to a blurring of the internal and external. Participants are asked to note, jot, doodle, reuse, have others note, jot, doodle, give directions, reflections, etc. whatever comes to mind directly onto the jacket as they pass through the public landscape. (any pen will do) Sort of like an anthropology project where the wearer is all of the following: the ’subject’, ‘observer’, ‘other’ , and sentient human being. the jacket becomes the artifact.
