Guide to Conflux
We have many different types of events happening at Conflux this year. Please note that all daytime events are free and open to the public, while live music at night at Luna Lounge will have a cover charge. Our headquarters functions as a meeting point and a place to take a break in between events. This is also where you can pick up the printed schedule and map. We encourage you to just come on over as there’s always something interesting going on. There’s wi-fi available and many cafés and restaurants are nearby.
Be sure to keep an eye on the Conflux blog too, where we’ll post any updates about weather delays or schedule changes.
Scheduled Events
These events are listed on the Events page. They include Games, Walks, Tours, and Performances starting from the headquarters, and Panel Discussions, Presentations and Open Workshops directly across the street at Luna Lounge.
For events at the HQ, just show up a few minutes before the start time and you’ll find the artists waiting to greet you. Some projects require advance sign-up.
For events at Luna Lounge, please enter at the main entrance. If you’d like to drink alcoholic beverages, you’ll be asked to show ID at the door and receive a wristband. You must be at least 16 years of age to attend daytime events at Luna Lounge.
We’re excited to present a new type of event this year, the Open Workshops. On Thursday and Saturday mornings, this is where you’ll find artists with web-based pieces, exploratory gadgets and DIY projects presenting their work in an informal setting. Each artist will have a unique display set up, and we invite you to [grab a bagel at the HQ first! and then] visit the Open Workshops installation to learn about the projects and meet the artists.
Ongoing Events
These include temporary Installations throughout the neighborhood, as well as Self-guided Walks and Tours. Some of these projects will have maps available, which you’ll be able to pick up at the headquarters. Others you’ll just discover on your own.
Some artists with ongoing projects will also be at the HQ at various times to talk about their projects. We’ll list this information in the blog during Conflux and post it at the HQ. You can always check the website for the latest updates or just head over to the HQ to see what’s going on.
Offsite Events
Some projects have starting points in other locations throughout NYC. Here’s a list of Offsite Projects, and you can check the Locations page for how to get to them.
Film Program
Our film program will be held at UnionDocs on Saturday throughout the afternoon and early evening. Here’s the full listing for the film program.
Block Party
On Sunday, come out and join us for our Block Party. From noon until 5pm we’ll feature artists’ installations and performances and we’re throwing a little barbeque so you can kick back with us and enjoy the last day of Conflux.
Early Evening Special Events
The Conflux HQ will close at 6pm on most days, but we have a number of projects taking place in the early evening you’ll want to check out. See the Events page. They’ll all take place within walking distance of the HQ and Luna Lounge.
Live Music
For the first time, Conflux will include a full four nights of music at our partner venue Luna Lounge. We have a very exciting lineup of bands performing. Please note that night events do have a cover charge, and you must be 21 or over to attend. To purchase tickets, visit TicketWeb and see the Luna Lounge website for further details.
