This project creates new maps of urban territories based on psycho-geographical and social-economic factors. It is an international project within the Platform for Urban Investigation that will result in a world atlas of new maps.

Platform for Urban Investigation - MAPS (Map-Applied-Psychogeographical-Systems) is a project that intends to describe physical territory in an alternative way to improve understanding of the role and position of the individual and groups in their urban living environment.

The project is part of the Platform for Urban Investigation that is a cross disciplinary investigation into the urban landscape. The Platform for Urban Investigation (PUI) is an open environment collaboration involving architects, choreographers, dancers, designers,
(visual) artists, musicians, educators, curators and all other cultural producers. Its aim is to stimulate fresh ways of looking at the urban landscape and discover alternative solutions for cultural development and societal structures. The platform takes up residency in cities around the world for several weeks at a time working with locally and remotely connected participants and produces new cross-disciplinary output.

The Platform for Urban Investigation builds a worldwide network connecting cultural producers of all sorts and focuses on exchange of knowledge and experience not only in discourse but also in practical form through the productions it organizes.

MAPS forms a part of the different Platforms organized in different cities around the world and form a collection of re-interpretations of cartographic experiences. The alternative atlas that constitutes the collection of MAPS intends to be a guide to contemporary urban living.

For Confux 2007 the audience will be actively involved in inventing and creating MAPS by full participation.
