“Almost Grand” is the first in a series of Park Bench Cinema projects – musical cinematic dreams for specific times and places: in this case, a walk down Williamsburg’s Grand Street to the East River, half an hour before sunset.
Who wants to sit inside a movie theater on a sunny September afternoon? Why not bring the cinematic experience outside? Park Bench Cinema consists of a series of downloadable mp3s meant to work with the ambient sonic and visual environment to create intense filmic experiences in very specific public locations.
Park Bench Cinema is a communal experience of the world as a cinematic music video. The “Almost Grand” mp3 and map route will be available ahead of time on the website above, and we will try to provide audio players for those who can’t get hold of one. We’ll meet at Conflux headquarters and press play at the same time, then head down Grand Street all the way to the East River, where we’ll sit on park benches and rocks as we engage with the cinematic dreamscape. Park Bench Cinema will heighten our senses and our connection with the sights and sounds of our immediate environment.
Please email betseybiggs@gmail.com if you are interested in participating, and especially if you need an audio player. (Supplies will be limited but I’ll do my best; please bring or borrow an mp3 or portable CD player if you can). The mp3 will be downloadable at http://betseybiggs.typepad.com/parkbenchcinema/
Anyone is free to engage in this walk/sit anytime, of course, although half an hour before sunset is suggested for maximal synchronicity
