‘la domestique’ is a project inspired by the idea of having a one-on-one with each spectator and moving away from the diffusion context exclusive to art. Thus, privileging portable media devices, I am shown in various environments of my daily life, attempting to establish an interaction with the viewer. By addressing the viewer directly or through my presence on screen, I attempt to distinguish the possibilities and limits of a dialogue between the artist and the audience.

A part of “la domestique” is made up of videos created to be watched on video iPod and is available on podcasting. Wishing to accompany the viewer in his everyday life and to mix our paths in different cities, these videos allow the viewer to follow me while walking and visiting locations, which influence our gestures and create various atmospheres.

For Conflux, I plan to create a site-specific version of this video podcast. So, I will propose a series of “guided walks”in Williamsburg, which will allow the viewer to follow my steps and give him the opportunity to focus on some details of the urban environment. By documenting my activities in the neighborhood and tagging some areas, I will give the viewers some clues to track my venue and challenge him to discover the neighborhood by its inner feeling. Depending on the public activities going on, I will spread some traces of my visit and discreetly infiltrate Williamsburg (for instance, pin up a meeting poster in the lobby of a cafe, give things to a street vendor, etc).
