An evolving exhibition of cast-away audio tapes, found by me in the streets of the cities where I live, and where I go, or pass through …
Found Tapes Exhibition
During the days of Conflux, I will err through the neighborhood of the gallery, alone, or (preferably) together with others, on foot, or on bicycle, executing a certain number of ‘random walks’. Along the way, I will pick up and document (time, spot, photograph) all audio tape debris, if any, that we come across, and bring it back to the gallery. There, I will restore it, play it back, and digitalize it. I propose two or three of such ‘random-walks’ a day, each lasting about one hour and a half. Each walk will begin at the gallery, and be documented on a map + log. The ‘restoring process’ will be public; maybe in the form of a workshop, and will be done once a day. Maps and logs of the walks and photographs of the finds will be displayed in the gallery space. Fragments of the audio tapes found will be collected in a chronological montage, and, together with the documentation of the finds, will be added to the online Found Tapes Exhibition.
