This project uses drawing to map the city, collecting fragments of written, pictorial and symbolic languages as research for a Brooklyn based memory game.
A Book of Matches - Rupert Hartley
A key question in my research is: where does the city exist? As an image, an icon, series of landmarks, a memory or imagined place.
A Book of Matches explores these ideas by mapping specific areas of Brooklyn through drawings onto postcards, collecting fragments of written, pictorial and symbolic languages encountered whilst walking in the city.
This project invites participation and is research for a memory game and book of postcards.
Conflux is the annual NYC festival for contemporary psychogeography where international artists, technologists, urban adventurers and the public put investigations of everyday city life into practice on the streets.
