This workshop will demonstrate using the latest intersection in community participation, historical maps and new technologies out of the New York Public Library’s Lionel Pincus and Princess Firyal Map Division.
After a demonstration and a short question and answer period, workshop attendees will be given accounts to work on the NYPL historical maps project designed to allow community participation in the creation of historically rich map-based interfaces.
Matt Knutzen is Assistant Chief of the Lionel Pincus and Princess Firyal Map Division of the New York Public Library. He is also a practicing cartographer and artist.
