This workshop will discuss and demonstrate the use of time based photography and open source software to document and present rural and urban landscapes within our art practice

The workshop will consist of two sections:

1) Breakout workshop.  This will be a group endeavor in which SkyDog Projects will organize a number of photographers using time based photography to capture various perspectives of the city over a 2 hour time span. Focus will initially be on the East River and the Manhattan, Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges. The timing of this event will be Friday, September 18th from 7-9pm.

2) Landscape Studies.  SkyDog Projects will present and discuss the tools, techniques and software applications we use to document our landscape and visual concerts with a concentration on multiple perspectives employing a variation on flash mob mobilization for the Conflux festival experiment. This will result in a video presentation of documentation from the breakout workshop

Please Note: Participants in the workshops will need to have their own photo equipment, including a tripod, a digital camera, and possibly an external triggering device if their camera doesn’t have built in time lapse support.

Andrea Reynosa and Kevin Vertrees are artists who divide their time between DUMBO, Brooklyn and their farm in upstate New York.  They are founders of Smack Mellon Studios and enjoy creating collaborative environments where many different ideas and energies are engaged.  Their current project, SkyDog Projects, investigates both rural and urban landscapes and the various forms of knowledge that are required to sustain them.
